NAAZHIGAI Part 2

So who is Subhu….And what happens with her first meet with Nithin? Does everything happen for a reason? Why did he offer to help her!  Why did they have an eye lock for such a long time? Is destiny playing its cards or they are just going to be two planets in their own orbit? Who gets to be Subhu’s friends for life?

Friends?? He asked.

My mind voice: What! I lost my ID, he helped, we shook hands two seconds back and now he wants to be my friend.  So I’m joining one in the lot of Nithi’s girl friends? No way, how can he be such a flirt. Oh stop now!  I’m over-reacting it was me who shook hands with him, not him. Don’t you think you are developing a pointless revulsion for that guy? Accept for now, anyways you don’t have a “reject or not now” button as in FB. Fine Subhu what are you going to reply? Oh God! How long have I been thinking

“Hello, are you okay” he asked waving his hands on my face. No I dint hear that too.

Suddenly an announcement came from the common mike asking us to collect our bus passes and get into the respective busses checking with the route chart.

“You can leave if you feel like. We’ll talk later bye”. He walked towards the bike stand. It was a Bajaj Pulsar AS200.

The driver honked repeatedly, looking at the small gate with a slight sense of urgency and unease.  We all got in the bus. Vicks was the last one to get in. Heaving a sigh, he started the engine. As the engine roared to life, he looked again at the small gate in anticipation and then changed the gears. Suddenly, he heard the voice. “Ruko! Stop Stop!” He turned around and looked. It was her. Dressed in pale purple and pink printed salwar kameez, she looked radiant even at the end of the day. She was running breathlessly and simultaneously adjusting her heavy sling bag, which was literally bursting with books. As she grabbed the poles of the bus entrance, Vicks gave his hand to pull her in. Vicks looked at her and she smiled back. He knew it was the smile of gratitude. He too beamed at her.

Vicks you gotta be kidding me!

She came and sat with us. So it was Prathi, me and Vicks’ girl. So she already got a name.

But Prathi cared to ask what her real name was. “Maya” she said.

Vicks took the last seat. I turned back to look what he was doing. He was plugged in to his headphones.

On the way we were waiting to cross the railway gate. I got the window seat, Prathi near me and Maya took the aisle.

There were a group of kids who were looking and gazing at the JCB backhoe loader which was operated by a guy of mid 20’s. They were excited seeing how it operated for excavating debris and digging. But there was this small guy who was looking opposite to the direction the other kids were looking at.He was gazing at the school van filled with kids who were returning from school. I could literally comprehend his craving for school and studies. He was looking pale with a tire in his hand which was quite heavy to carry for a guy of 10s and 11s. As the gates were open our bus was on the move. So was he.

I got down the bus along with Vicks. We were walking and we both were muted. I asked “So Vicks, how is college, how is your class?” Vicks: Ya, good good.

He lives with his widower father. So most of the time he eats in our house though there are servants to take care of all his needs, he has a car too but chooses to take the bus. He is a maverick with deep thoughts and sometimes his blank behaviors are quite clueless too.

Vicks: I have an idea of making a documentary, Subhu

Is he thinking what I’m thinking! No no, it can’t be. “Vicks that’s great, finally you found the girl or what for the female lead? “, as I winked my eyes making fun of him with Maya.

Vicks: No Subhu thinking of making a film to show how important education for kids is.
He always looks into my eyes when he is confident. So did he now. And Yes, he was exactly talking my heart.

Vicks: Care to join me tomorrow morning in my car to college?

I dint demand for a why. It’s always like that. He hardly ever asks me something, if he does I ensure that I rarely ask him questions.  He lost his mother when we were 10. Aunty was such a sweet pie and she taught me singing when I was a kid.

“Come Vicks we’ll have something in my house”.

Vicks: No Subhu got some work. 7 am it is. See you tomorrow.

I shared all that happened to my sis, Theju and went to sleep.

September 2 2008
It’s 6:30 already after I ignored the snooze for about 9 times from 5:45. This guy won’t scold too. He’ll just question my eyes and pushes me into guilt. No it’s not happening Subhu. Hurry up. I wore a blue salwar which was ironed and visible in my shelf. I was right on time at my gate when he came. His house was just few blocks away from ours. I got inside the car and it was moving at constant 50kmph. We reached the railway gate when suddenly Vicks said “Anna, stop the car”

To be continued……

What is gonna happen?? Ah  ah you have to wait for the next blog for that ;) ;)
